Rare prototypes consigned for Toy Auction

Aug 20, 2017

An extremely rare collection of prototype toys will go under the hammer in our specialist Toy Collectors Auction on August 25th. Consigned by a former designer employed by Hasbro, the collection includes prototype samples from the likes of Star Wars, Action Man, Sindy, Care Bears & Strawberry Shortcake. Most of the items still have the original prototype labels, some with notes on amendments to be made before production versions were finalised. One particularly interesting piece is an Action Man 'Minesweeper' which was set to be released to coincide with the work Princess Diana was doing to raise awareness of the land mine crisis. Following the death of Princess Diana, the figure was deemed to be in bad taste and was changed to a metal detector for production models. All of the items will go under the hammer at Wessex Auction Rooms' Toy Collector's Auction on August 25th
